When, after fourteen years of trying to write, I published my first book, Things that Sometimes Happen (1970).

I don’t know if the game of Squash is part of the Olympics, but if so, that would be it.
What’s the bravest thing you’ve ever done?
Becoming a step-parent.
What’s the first book you remember reading?
Otto the Giant Dog.
What TV show can’t you turn off?
I don’t turn any show on.
I second your comment about not turning any show on, Avi. And by the way, I am in the final pages of “Catch You Later, Traitor,” which I’m finding both extremely compelling and also very maddening, reading about this period of American history.
