She taught junior and senior high, as well as college.<\/p>\n<p>Her first book,\u00a0<em>The Cat Ate My Gymsuit,<\/em>\u00a0was published in 1974. She wrote over 25 books, including\u00a0<em>The United Tates of America<\/em>, the Amber Brown series, and\u00a0<em>P.S. Longer Letter Later<\/em>. For several years, Paula appeared monthly on Britain&#8217;s popular BBC-TV children&#8217;s program &#8220;Live and Kicking.&#8221; She traveled more than 30,000 miles each year, talking to kids and writers. She has been nominated for numerous awards.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, Paula Danziger died of complications from a heart attack on July 8, 2004. Her manuscripts, revisions, and correspondence are available for study at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/special.lib.umn.edu\/clrc\/kerlan\/index.php\">University of Minnesota&#8217;s Children&#8217;s Literature Research Collection<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ae-byline\">\u2014 Vicki Palmquist<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Paula Danziger was born on August 18th\u00a0in Washington, D.C.
