Lang is best known for his \u201cFairies collection,\u201d a series of European fairy tales for children titled by different colors, such as <i>The Red Fairy Book<\/i> and <i>The Violet Fairy Book<\/i>.<\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p class=\"text10pt\">Andrew Lang wrote prose translations of the ancient Greek epic poems, the <i>Odyssey,<\/i> in 1879, with S. H. Butcher and the\u00a0<i>Iliad,<\/i> in 1882, with E. J. Myers and Walter Leaf; both are considered to be among the best ever written. He died in 1912.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text10pt\">A quote from Andrew Lang&#8217;s <em>The Library <\/em>is, &#8220;A book is a friend whose face is constantly changing.
