Even when she became a full time illustrator in 1952, she still kept up that early morning schedule.<\/p>\n<p>In 1935, she married John Anderson, a children&#8217;s book writer. Her first illustrated children&#8217;s book was one he wrote, <em>Bag of Smoke<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>She was well-known for titles such as Caldecott Honor books\u00a0<em>Houses from the Sun<\/em> (1962) and\u00a0<em>The Day We Saw the Sun Come Up<\/em> (1962), as well as\u00a0<em>A Woggle of Witches<\/em>, Jan Wahl&#8217;s <em>Cabbage Moon<\/em>, and Rumer Godden&#8217;s <em>Mouse House<\/em>.
