Her father was the\u00a0managing\u00a0editor of the <em>Chicago Tribune<\/em> and the young Dorothy lived around books and the written word her entire life. She wrote books and poetry for adults and children, but her children&#8217;s work is still remembered today. Her poems may be found in books such as <em>All the Year Around<\/em> (1938), <em>The Boy Who Cared<\/em> (1956), and <em>Hiding<\/em> (1920), were extremely popular.
